When I first considered creating a website about trading using the methodology of W.D. Gann, I had to think about it for a while. After all, Gann analysis is a complicated subject. My first thought was that I couldn’t do it; there was no way I could write about all the material Gann had covered in his books. Furthermore, I didn’t know how to go about doing it. Should I rehash Gann’s course? Should I fill the site with quotes from his books such as How to Make Profits in Commodities or 45 Years in Wall Street? Where should I start? These were some of the questions going through my mind. After much more thought and internal debate, I finally decided that a website about Gann’s methodology wasn’t necessary because many excerpts from his books and courses were already published on the internet. Then it occurred to me to create a website about what I consider to be the major themes of Gann’s work: pattern, price and time. As I outlined the website, I decided the simplest approach would be to show how each method worked individually and how each method worked when combined.

      My experience in the futures business showed me that too often traders become hooked on either pattern, price or time in their analyses. The most common mistakes are systems built around time to enter and price to exit, or price to enter and time to exit. In addition, traders who use pattern often enter or exit at poor prices or with poor timing. These observations provided further evidence that a combination of all three methods is necessary for success in the marketplace. It is on this premise that I have based my website.

     From time to time the website will offer brief introductions to W.D. Gann and his background. There also will be articles on Gann techniques such as the trend indicator, angles, percentage retracements and time. Traders and investors will be offered an opportunity to learn more about Gann Theory through daily/weekly research and analysis newsletters, webinars, podcasts and videos. Seminars, courses and classes also are being developed.

     Throughout the website the trader will be able to find introductions to various patterns created by trend indicator charts and concepts of price and time. Various ways to link together price and time will be the central theme of the website as well as the discussion of trading strategies.

     This website is intended to be educational. It is by no means intended to replace the books and courses written by W.D. Gann, but will instead give a trader an opportunity to learn the various techniques using current market action. If anything, the information on the website should be used by the novice as an introduction to the subjects of pattern, price and time, and by the expert for enhancing his or her trading abilities.

      While Gann analysis concepts will be discussed on this website, it is not intended to be a website solely on Gann analysis as many original ideas and techniques will be introduced throughout the site. I write this now because I do not have the time to debate "what Gann said", or "what Gann did." I’m not here to argue with anyone, but to provide traders with the best information available to learn and use pattern, price and time techniques to analyze and trade the Forex and futures markets. I only hope that you find the ideas presented on the website as useful as I do.
